Medigap Plan G 101
Medigap insurance plans continue to be confusing and frustrating when trying to learn the differences in plans. For example, Medigap Plan G offers slightly less than Plan F. Almost everything is covered by this plan except for one particular option that could be costly to you if you need help with Medicare Part B. The Medigap Plan G does not offer assistance with the Medicare Part B deductible like Plan F does.
In an effort to choose which plan best suits you, it is important to review these plans side by side. Plan G is relatively less expensive than Plan F. However, Plan F covers 100 percent of Medicare excess charges, while Plan G only covers 80 percent of these charges. Plan F also covers the Part B deductible, which is $162, while Plan G does not. Also, remember, that Medicare is now picking up all of the cost for preventive health care.
See how easy it is to save when you look at what you’ll actually be spending for premiums and for health care that’s not covered. Medigap Plans actually come in 10 different coverage packages. Yes, that does complicate things, but it also lets you buy just the coverage you expect to need without paying for something you may not use.
