What Medicare supplement plans are available at Mutual of Omaha?

Mutual of Omaha sells Plan A – the most basic of the standard Medigap plans – as well as Plans F and G, including a high-deductible Plan G, which provides very comprehensive benefits like Plan G, but at a reduced premium thanks to the higher deductible of $2,490.

Mutual of Omaha also sells Plan N, which is similar to Plan G but does not cover “excess medical charges.” That is, charges over and above the standard Medicare reimbursement rate. If your state doesn’t allow doctors to charge more than the standard Medicare reimbursement rate, Plan N may be a more economical alternative than Plan G.

Plan F is not available to new enrollees.

The standardized plans are different in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Wisconsin than they are in the rest of the country. Mutual of Omaha does not sell plans in Massachusetts. Minnesota and Wisconsin residents, contact us for details and a full needs analysis.

What additional benefits does Mutual of Omaha provide?

Mutual of Omaha’s offerings are designed to balance affordability and value. They don’t provide a rich menu of ancillary benefits over and above the standard Medigap plans themselves. As a result, they keep their premiums relatively affordable compared to some other Medicare supplement carriers with a wider array of extra benefits.

For example, Mutual of Omaha’s Medicare supplement plans don’t include dental discounts.

However, they do offer a few extras, including discounts on vision services via EyeMed. They also offer an optional fitness program, Mutually Well, for an additional premium of $25 per month.

Mutual of Omaha also offers a separate standalone Medicare Part D plan, as well as separate dental insurance plans.

Are there any discounts available with Mutual of Omaha?

Mutual of Omaha offers a discount of 7% to 12% for those Medicare Supple members who live with a spouse, domestic partner, or other individual age 60 or older.

You can still qualify for the discount even if the other individuals don’t have Mutual of Omaha insurance.

Just what the doctor ordered

Rated 5.0 out of 5

Our Medicare Supplement insurance from Mutual of Omaha has come through for us multiple times. My wife had to have two different hip replacements. I had a heart attack and car accident that broke my leg. All of them required hospital stays… I was in for a week after the heart attack. The medical supplement Plan G covered everything. I had no out of pocket expenses except for a small Part B deductible which was just a couple of hundred dollars each year for each of us.

You do need to buy a separate drug plan. Don’t skimp on that part. And you should get a dental plan and use all the free cleaning benefits. It pays off in the long run.

Definitely keeping mutual of Omaha for all our medicare supplement needs.

We love the household discount

Rated 5.0 out of 5
May 24, 2023

We live in a large extended family household. We picked Mutual of Omaha for all our insurance needs, including my husbands’ medicare supplement plan, because of the 12 percent discount for every member of the household. That really adds up for us.

The Medigap plan has always paid out promptly and we’ve never had any problem with that. When problems do come up with our other policies, Mutual of Omaha has always had good customer service. We’re very loyal to Mutual of Omaha and we’ve been with them since we were watching the Wild Kingdom on TV.

Great customer service

Rated 5.0 out of 5
February 18, 2023

Best customer service I’ve had in any insurance company. It’s obvious Mutual of Omaha invests in a quality customer service experience. Hold times are always short, and every rep I’ve spoken with has been outstanding.

There are probably other companies that are cheaper. But when I have a problem, with Mutual of Omaha I know I can get to the bottom of it quickly.

I know all medicare supplement plans have to offer the same basic benefits, so good customer service is a good differentiator.

Medigap doesn’t cover everything

Rated 2.0 out of 5
November 3, 2022

I bought my medigap plan over the internet. I thought I had a comprehensive plan (Plan G) but it turns out Mutual of Omaha Medigap doesn’t cover medicines at all or even emergency dental care. I didn’t know that I needed separate insurance for that. That’s what I get for trying to do everything myself. I went through an agent later and he told me I had a pretty good plan, but I needed to add a Part D plan and a dental plan if I wanted dental coverage.

So I bought both so lesson learned. Hopefully I’m better covered now.
