Two New Medicare Supplement Plans in 2010: Plans M and N

There are changes on the horizon for those seeking Medicare Supplement or Medigap coverage. Starting in 2010, there will be two new Medicare Supplement plans available, Plans M and N.

Plan M will use deductible sharing to lower your costs. With this plan you will be responsible for 50% of your part A and part B deductible. Your premiums will be approximately 15% lower than most companies charge for Plan F.

Plan N will also offer lower premiums, but will have co-payments involved for various services. With Plan N, you will pay a $20 co-pay for a doctor visit and a $50 co-pay for an emergency room visit. Plan N premiums are expected to be about 30% lower monthly premiums for a Medigap Plan F.
