Should You Have Medicare Supplement Insurance?

Are you confused about whether you could save money with a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan?  It can be intimidating to try to figure that out, so we have some tips for you. First, look at what you spent last year. Medicare leaves you to pay for 20 percent of doctor bills if your doctor finds or treats a problem.  If you think your health might be slipping, covering that 20 percent with a Medigap plan might be smart.

Medigap insurance can also pay for the difference between Medicare’s set rate and what your doctor may actually charge.  Don’t get stuck paying for the usual 20 percent plus any excess your doctor may bill you for after Medicare pays its share.

If you think you may need hospital care, a Medicare Supplement plan could be worth its weight in gold.  Medicare doesn’t cover hospital bills until you’ve spent $1,156 for each benefit period, but you can get a Medigap plan that will reimburse you for the whole amount.

And, here’s the best tip – you can compare prices from different insurance companies all at once.  It’s easy to do here on our website, but we also have health insurance advisors to answer your questions and make recommendations. We’re not obligated to push any particular insurance company.  Our mandate is to match plans to your needs regardless of who sells that Medigap, Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug plan.
