With more than 40 million Americans currently enrolled in the Medicare program, there’s a lot of information that needs to be shared about available options. Unfortunately, not every American is as education as they should be – or could be – when it comes to the Medicare options that are available to them.
Our Medigap Advisors are dedicated to helping our clients learn more about Medicare options that are right for their needs – and their pocket books. The Medicare Advantage program is one of those options that is cost-effective and appealing to many of our clients. Here are a few things we want all of our clients to know about when it comes to Medicare Advantage programs:
Medicare Advantage plans are available through private insurers.
Medicare Advantage is a type of Medicare program through which participants have their healthcare coverage through private insurers, such as Anthem, Humana, or a similar healthcare company. The program works in conjunction with the Original Medicare program, in that any Medicare participant can enroll in a Medicare Advantage program of their choice.
Medicare Advantage plans provide participants with greater flexibility when choosing a healthcare provider.
One of the major reasons Medicare subscribers opt to enroll in a Medicare Advantage program is become Medicare Advantage programs tend to provide them with more liberty in terms of which healthcare providers they can use. Unlike Original Medicare programs, Medicare Advantage programs allow subscribers to visit any of the in-network healthcare providers allowed by the private insurer, which often increases the options for subscribers.
Medicare Advantage plans can be very inexpensive for participants.
Also, many Medicare Advantage program have a zero dollar premium, which means that Medicare subscribers do not pay out of pocket each month to be a member of a zero dollar premium Medicare Advantage program. These zero dollar premium Medicare Advantage programs are paid for by reimbursements from the Medicare program based on each individual program enrollee, which enables them to save their enrollees money.
If any Medicare participant wishes to enroll in a Medicare Advantage program, the participant must enroll during the annual Medicare Open Enrollment period, which is from November 15 to December 31. Any changes that they would like to be made to their Medicare plans for the upcoming year need to be made during this time.
