The seniors who participated in the survey reported fewer negative insurance experiences than people with employer-based insurance. That includes fewer problems like having expensive medical bills for non-covered services, being charged more than their insurance would pay, or doctors not accepting their insurance.
Sixty-one percent of the Medicare beneficiaries rated their medical care as excellent or very good, but just half of those with employer-based insurance rated their insurance as highly. Fifty-seven percent of Medicare beneficiaries were confident they could get high-quality, safe care in the future. Only 46 percent of people with employer-based insurance could say the same.
