Medicare Supplement Coverage For Those New To Medicare

How to Get a Medicare Supplement Plan if You are Turning 65 or Leaving Group Coverage

Most people start Medicare when they turn 65, or later if they have previously been covered by a group policy.  As soon as you are enrolled in Medicare Part B, you have a six-month open enrollment period where you are guaranteed acceptance into a Medicare Supplement plan.

Medicare Supplement, also known as Medigap insurance plans, are standardized, identified in most states by letters (A through N).  Each standardized Medigap plan offers the same basic coverage, no matter which insurance company it is through.

So once you decide which plan you want (plans F and N are the most popular), you can compare rates between Mutual of Omaha, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many other companies.

Enrollment is easy, and can usually be done online, or you can fill it out a paper application and mail or fax it to us.
