Welcome to MediGap Advisors where I specialize in helping you understand how Medicare works and how you can get the most from your Medicare coverage. As you may have noticed, I’m no “spring chicken” so I know from experience what most folks need to make their retirement count.
I’ve been helping people find insurance since 1993 and I’ve talked to a lot of people about what they need in the way of insurance to protect their future. From that 1993 beginning, I spent the next ten years building an agency to help people get auto, home and life insurance. I also helped business owners with commercial insurance.
After my son joined me in the business, we helped thousands of families and small business owners meet their insurance needs. Then in 2003, I turned the agency over to my son and I focused on health insurance and living trusts so my clients would be well protected against serious financial loss.
As you know, medical bills are one of the biggest threats to retirement savings, but that doesn’t have to be your story. Medicare has expanded coverage to include a lot of screening procedures to catch problems early. When I say expanded, I mean it now covers recommended preventive care services at 100 percent, with no deductible.
Prevention and Early Detection Can Improve and Extend Your Life
Medicare covers bone mass measurement to see if you’re at risk for broken bones at least once every 24 months. It also covers tests for cholesterol, lipid, and triglyceride levels every 5 years to help determine if you’re at risk for a heart attack or stroke.
To check for colorectal cancer, Medicare covers different tests at different time periods depending on your risk level, so you can talk to your doctor about which tests would be best for you. And, it covers tests for pre-diabetes and diabetes if you have high blood pressure, a history of abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels, are overweight or have a personal history of high blood sugar or a family history of diabetes.
So, what happens if a test does identify a problem? Medicare only covers 80 percent of a set limit for doctor fees no matter what your doctor may bill you. Don’t worry. There are ways to cover that 20 percent and anything extra above Medicare’s limit. I can help you find coverage that will reimburse you for Medicare’s two deductibles, as well.

Now, besides helping folks complete Medicare, my greatest satisfaction is being married to my wife Flo. We’ve invested 42 years in that. Our son, Erich, was born while I was stationed in Germany and our daughter, Tamara, was born at the Air Force Academy.
Now Flo and I also have three grandsons to keep us busy and young. Along with being professional grandparents, we’re active in our church with an emphasis on Crown Financial Ministries.
