Hello and welcome to MediGap Advisors. I’m Mike Connolly and I know our clients are our most valuable asset. I’m also keenly aware of the need for people who can unravel the mysteries of Medicare and help you get the health care you deserve. My mother has been in and out of skilled nursing facilities, so I’ve seen how Medicare works and why it’s critical to find coverage to fit your needs.
I’ve always been passionate about people fulfilling their dreams and as part of the MediGap Advisors’s team, I have access to information and resources that can help you and your loved ones get much-needed health care while maintaining financial independence. I can save you a lot of time and trouble, make sense of Medicare and sort through a jungle of options to help you find the best solution. I’ll make it easy for you to make good decisions that protect your health and retirement so you get more out of life.
When my wife’s father was diagnosed with cancer, I saw how his family struggled to help him get good care. I have a lot of empathy for families caring for parents and I see the wisdom in that old saying “Dig the well before you thirst.” I can show you where your biggest risk lies and point out ways you can save money now.
Me and My Family
At MediGap Advisors, one of our strengths is that we’re independent agents. I’m free to help you with plans from leading insurers so your choices are not limited to what a single insurer offers. More choices equal more opportunity to find great coverage, but too many choices can be overwhelming. I can narrow the field down to your best options. With us, you come first, so Medigap Advisors only represents companies that are A-rated for financial soundness.
I learned how important it is to have the right agent on your side when our older boy, Bryan, came home from college with an old motorcycle. After he took driver ed courses and passed the license exam, I handed him the keys and wished him “bon voyage.” Twenty minutes later, he called me at the office saying, “Dad, I’m at the neighbor’s house. I crashed on the way home and I think I have a broken arm.”
After the $1,800 ER bill, I discovered that for just a few dollars a month our family could be covered for accidents. Now, fast forward to last summer when Bryan called (did I mention, he’s very physically active?) saying, “Hey Dad, I think I need to go to the hospital. I was juggling on the mall and banged my head on a concrete planter. The emergency responders say it will need stitches.”
That was covered by our accident plan with only a $100 deductible. Bryan was part of the 2010 City of Fort Collins “Streetmosphere” summer arts program then. He also founded a circus club sponsored by Colorado State University and auditioned to train with Cirque du Sole in Montreal, Canada.
I’m told I’m the world’s best listener, so I realized right away what an accident plan could do for David Graham when we talked. Since it was the last day of the month, he would have to wait for 30 days unless I could push that through quickly. I got it all done and, needless to say, he was very happy to get that worry off his mind in a single day.
I have a lot of experience getting jobs done quickly. That’s how I graduated CumLaude from CU Boulder with honors in Sociology. That skill came in handy when I chaired our younger son’s fund-raiser, too. I managed to triple funds raised that year, but Keegan’s the real hero.
When he was 2½, he was diagnosed with a nervous system disorder that required treatments and therapies throughout his life. Back then, my employer had a bare-bones group plan. I wish we had found someone to show us better options, so I understand how it feels to be overwhelmed when you need health care for yourself or a loved one.
No one wants to wade through a lot of confusing rules like Medicare has while worrying about making a bad decision that can cost you a lot of money or, worse yet, deprive you of health care when you need it most.
Our family has had a happy ending. After years of struggling with a central nervous system disorder, Keegan earned a good citizen award that’s given to only one student of each gender for the whole eighth grade class. He also overcame personal challenges to be elected treasurer and secretary for his high school student government.
When I’m not involved with the boy’s, my other passion is music. I lived in Ireland for a year, playing and studying traditional Irish music and became the 1984 Colorado State Champ Fiddler. I’ve served as music instructor at the University of Colorado and Denver Folklore Center, and I’ve entertained professionally throughout the Rocky Mountains. I still teach privately.
Some of my best times have been playing fiddle with buddies, Eric Weber, Mary Flowers and Washbo’d Chaz Leary in front of thousands at Denver’s ‘”Taste of Colorado” and playing twin fiddle with my heroe, Eric Levine, at my friends’ Quaker wedding.
I believe it’s important to live life your way – in service to something greater than yourself. I’ve designed my life to include outdoor swims, yoga and cycling. I love having a bike path right outside my door that ties into the amazing network throughout Boulder. That helped me place in the top 10% of male runners in my age group in the 2004 Bolder Boulder 10K foot race.
To give back, I’m a Bonfils Blood Center Four Gallon Donor and am on way to five gallons (http://www.bonfils.org).
I look forward to helping you get the most out of life and to help with that, I encourage you to check out MediGap Advisors’ Additional Benefits to start saving money on health care. That’s just the beginning of how I can make your life simpler and easier. Congratulations on finding MediGap Advisors!
Talk to you soon,
Mike
